TRETÅRN I BIRKENES – KONKURRANSEUTKAST
Omgitt av tårnets trekonstruksjoner skal besøkende stige opp, og stadig erobre nye høyder. De kan gå ut på utsiktsplatåer med stadig videre utsyn og større sug til de endelig når målet i en svimlende høyde. Som en gotisk katedral er tårnet konstruert med søylegrupper der hvert enkelt søyleelement
har en bestemt oppgave. I foten forsterker de hverandre og virker sammen, mot toppen lager de støtte for de parvis utkragede søylene som understøtter utsiktsplatåene. På den måten forsvinner det hele tiden søyler fra ytre søylekrans der kun én søyle føres helt opp til tårnets takkonstruksjon.
WOODEN TOWER IN BIRKENES – COMPETITION PROPOSAL
Encompassed by the tower’s wooden construction, visitors would work their way up and steadily conquer new heights. They can step out to vista plateaus with increasingly more expansive and breathtaking views until they ultimately reach the dizzying summit. Like a Gothic cathedral, the tower is constructed with groups of pillars and each pillar has a distinct function. At the base they are mutually supportive and cohesive and at the top they form support for the paired and trussed columns that uphold the viewpoint plateaus. In this way pillars disappear the whole time from the outer cincture, where a single pillar leads up to the tower’s roof construction.
